12/11/06 I see them snuggled up like this more and more. He is getting more gentle and she is getting more tolerant. It's the best of all worlds for everyone!

8/28/2003 Since the daredevil gene is mostly likely genetic, I should have see this one coming. Ethan LOVES the big slide and can't get enough of climbing to the top and throwing stuff down. At least he isn't tall enough for monkey bars yet.

7/30/2003 This house was such a find! I got it at the resale shop for $12 and it's got a slide and windows and a front door. HOURS of family entertainment.

7/17/2003 Ethan's new favorite hobby. Wouldn't you know it plays "It's a small world". Imagine being trapped in the Disneyland ride for the next six months and you've just got a small glimpse into my reality ;)

4/28/2003 There is something so sweet about this shot. This turtle (Winston) is almost as big as Ethan and he holds it for comfort and companionship. Here Grandma Fincher grants Ethan access to the coveted garage door handle.

4/20/2003 One of my favorite traditions as a kid was our yearly easter egg hunt! Ethan is a great hunter and found even the most obscurely placed nests. He's finally spied the mother lode and was rewarded with a new movie and treats aplenty. Thanks Grandma!

4/19/2003 I think Ethan looks especially fincherish in this shot, taken at play class. Here he looks more like a Glore (except for the fish lips)! One of his favorite things at Gymboree are the bubbles. Popping them wherever they are found, here he tries to help Carlie with the bubbles in her hair.

4/10/2003 Time for our first haircut! Mommie explains what's going to happen and then it's time to get started. Can't you almost hear him? "Stop touching ME"!! Always with a backup plan, mommie distracts with pear pieces and finally Ethan is pleased with the results. What a handsome boy!

4/6/2003 Bathtime! Ethan really enjoys playing with his Sesame Street toy and has spent many happy mornings arranging the pieces just so. "Captain! We're taking on water!".

1/30/2003 Sure enough! Say hello to top tooth number one! This picture shows Ethan making the sign for "more" (one finger pointing to the palm of the opposite hand). I've been able to teach him a couple of signs so that he can communicate what he wants at meals in a way other than screaming at the top of his lungs. It is working beautifully!

1/18/2003 I love how excited he gets about everything. I wish you could see have been there to witness the whole scene - Ethan was actually flapping his arms like a chicken and the floor was COVERED in gloves and hats. We had a great time playing.

1/17/2003 I figured this might be my last chance to get Ethan's picture with just his bottom teeth. The tops are seriously threatening to make and appearance and I expect them any day now.

12/25/2002 We got some great snow Christmas morning, so Ethan and I bundled up and went sledding! I haven't been since I was a kid and it was SO much fun.

12/22/2002 My family celebrated Ethan's birthday the Sunday afte he turned one. It is so hard to believe it's been a whole year! Here are the before , during , and after birthday cake pictures.

12/13/2002 We had the most fun on our whirlwind trip to Albuquerque!! Ethan got to play with Joan Zucker and Joan' son Leo. Who knew that he was fluent in baby talk? Michelle Urish babysat Ethan while I dolled up and went to ProLaw's christmas party.

6/14/2002 Ethan got his six month portraits today. He was SO good! He sat up all on his own, played a little ball, and dressed up for the occasion! He's going to kill me for taking that last one, but I LOVE IT!

6/1/2002 Today I went on a picture taking spree. I wanted to make sure that I got one of Ethan sitting up. He's still a little unstable, but is learning so fast! We also spent some time outside and Ethan not only studied they lay of the land but also thoroughly enjoyed himself!! That made two of us :) Me watching him and him watching everything else.

5/25/2002 We spent Memorial Day weekend in Detroit MI and Ethan got to spend a little QT with Uncle Russel. They were so cute together!

5/19/2002 Happy five month birthday, Ethan!! He's such a cutie!! I can tell he's getting older - even the experience of taking these pictures is different. Last month he didn't even know there was a sign. NOW look at him! I had a hard time getting him to look at the camera he was so interested in it! See the five month update!

3/20/2002 Today I just took some pictures. Here is Ethan with his new favorite toy. Luckily for him it goes everywhere he does! We also had our very first outdoor excursion and Ethan got to dress for the weather. We kind of think he looks like a whaler in this one. But a what a cute little whaler he would be!

3/19/2002 Happy three month birthday, Ethan!! See the three month update!

3/17/2002 As you may imagine, Sundays are a lot of fun at our house. We all get together for brunch (or as many of us are available) and hang out. Sometimes we just relax and talk, sometimes we play games and sometimes we just get goofy. This particular Sunday, we voted for goofiness. So with that in mind, here is a picture of Ethan with hair. Lots of it. Aunt Alli also played SUPERTIKE with him for a while. It's a game I fondly remember from my own childhood - just like being a human airplane!

3/14/2002 Ethan rolled over today!! THREE TIMES and he's not even three months old. I was just beside myself - I scooped him up and covered him with kisses and cried. It was just the neatest thing. It is so satifying to know that he is growing and getting stronger.

3/10/2002 Here is Ethan posing with Jeri. We had a great time at our visit and Jeri is a natural. She'll be a great mom! I also took some pictures while we played Racko. We had to pass the boy around so the dealer could deal. Grandma and Grandad both had their turns. When Sheila got him, Ethan decided to do his Obi-Wan Kenobi impersonation. What a hoot!

3/2/2002 Grandma Fincher came to play with Ethan while we went to Medieval Times. She took some of the funniest pictures! This one is my favorite - Ethan's first puppet show!! :) I am not sure what was happening in this one, but I bet this picture was followed by some crying!

2/27/2002 Ethan had his two month check-up at the doctor today. Nurse Rose weighed him in at 14 pounds (90%) at measured him at 25.5 inches (off the chart). In short, he's HUGE which of course I already knew - just look at my biceps! Then Dr. Silver came in and checked him out. She checked him for the stepping reflex which he is not doing nearly as much. She says that's a sign that he will probably roll over early. She also put him on him tummy to see what he was doing as far as lifting up his head. All in all, he's doing great. A big and healthy boy! And I am one proud mama :)

2/19/2002 Happy 2 Month Birthday Ethan!! See the two month update!

2/8/2002 It's a miracle!! I gave Ethan his bath early last night (6:30) and then fed him at 7:00. He was asleep by 8:30 and I had a full hour and a half ALL TO MYSELF. I can't tell you how nice it was - I almost didn't know what to do with myself. I headed for bed at 10:00 and he was still sleeping. He didn't wake up to eat until 12:15. People talk a lot about whether their babies are sleeping through the night, but I could live on nights like last night for a long time.

2/7/2002 Ethan is seven weeks old now! What a big and wonderful boy he has become. He is learning to play and is starting to lift his head up ! I think he has the whole smiling thing down. He actually smiles in reaction to stuff now and not just randomly. He still gets a little fussy at night, but he is starting settle into a schedule which I think helps. I also officially feel like a mom. For the longest time I just felt like I had a 24-7 babysitting job. But then one day Ethan looked at me when I came in the room and got the HUGEST grin on his face and I thought "he actually knows who I am!" I also realized that I know him really well. That I recognize different cries and what they are for and can settle him down almost all the time. It feels great and I am just loving it!

1/23/2002 Ethan had his one month check up today. He weighs 11 lbs 11 oz and is 23.5 inches long. Dr. Silver answered a ton of questions for me about the red mark on the back of his neck (which she says is a "stork bite" and should go away on its own), the yellow scales on his head and by his eyebrow ("cradle cap" which should go away on its own) and the nightly crying. He usually starts up between 7:30 and 10:30 and then either crys like he is miserable or just fusses for 1 to 3 hours. She says this is his "fussy time" (and yes, she says that IS the medical term for it) and that it may last until he is around three months old. Oh joy :) He is doing really well otherwise and is generally a very happy and healthy baby. He is spending more time on his tummy and is learing to smile. SO cute.

1/15/2002 My poor baby! This is Ethan at the worst of the baby acne. I felt so bad for him! But it didn't seem to hurt, so that is a good thing. Here he is, snuggled in the bassinet and guarded by all his furry friends.
